Duluth, Minnesota's 3 RV Campground Review

Situated on the shores of Lake Superior, Duluth, Minnesota, is a town of approximately 87,000 residents. Duluth is approximately a three-hour drive from the Twin Cities area, making this town a popular weekend getaway destination. Its biggest draws include downhill skiing at Spirit Mountain, waterfront antique shopping on Canal Street, and driving along the North Shore scenic drive. Because tourism is one of Duluth’s biggest industries, many lodging options are available for visitors, including RV Parks. Here’s a look at these three RV campgrounds.

Indian Point Campground

Indian Point Campground is located five miles from downtown Duluth on the St. Louis River, near the base of Spirit Mountain. Campsites include seven RV sites with full hookups, 21 sites with water and electricity, and 23 electric-only sites. Primitive tent sites also are available. All campsites include a fire pit and a picnic table. Guests enjoy free Wi-Fi, hiking and biking trails, and access to the St. Louis River. For an extra fee, guests may rent canoes, kayaks, and boats to use on the river. Indian Point Campground is open from May through October and reservations are accepted. Lakehead Boat Basin

Located three blocks from Canal Street, Lakehead Boat Basin offers 30 RV sites, with 12 sites having full hookups. The RV sites are all on a blacktop surface, as the sites are used for boat storage during the winter months. Nature lovers looking for a scenic campsite might not enjoy this particular campground, but those looking to get close to the city will love it! Other amenities include showers, restrooms, and sewage facilities. Guests enjoy many activities within walking distance, including antique shopping on Canal Street, touring the Marine Museum, and watching boats pass through the nearby Ariel Lift Bridge. Docking is available for travelers with boats for an extra fee. Contact this Duluth campsite at 218-722-1757.

Buffalo House

In addition to its year-round RV park and campground, Buffalo House is a large recreational facility with a sports complex, restaurant, and banquet hall. The RV sites offer full hookups with 30 and 50 amp service, and tent sites are available. Other campground amenities include showers, toilets, and waste disposal. Plenty of activities surround the campsite. Play a game of volleyball in one of the outdoor courts, take a scenic walk Munger State Trail system or toss around a ball in one of the softball fields. After the sun sets, guests can roast hot dogs over a fire pit or head into the bar and relax over a few cocktails. Campsite reservations are accepted. Contact the Buffalo House at 218-628-7019.

Camping in Duluth is an excellent way to take in the beautiful scenery, and each of these campsites offers something for everyone.
